Life Update

“ You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” — Mae West.

I realized I have had a productive weekend and just thought to finish it with a blog post which will just make it complete so here it goes.

My last life update on the blog was over a year ago. You can read all about it here. I felt it was time for an update because my life has changed a lot since then.

Harmattan In Lagos – Things You Should Have So You Aren’t Caught Unfresh

Climate change is really happening

Is it cold in your area yet?

Harmattan usually shows up November/December which to me is also a sign of the Yuletide season being near but last year this didn’t happen. My dear harmattan decides to show up unexpectedly in February.

Imagine complaining about how crazy hot the weather has been for a while and then one ealry morning you wake and have to cover up completely because it is so cold, just imagine. This was me a few days ago.

Happy New Year!!! This is my first post since the year began. How has the year been for you so far?

Cold seasons are my favorite mostly because I will take a cold day over a hot one and I get to stunt with my favorite sweaters and socks and trust me, i have.

Harmattan is here finally and not to be caught unfresh or unawares, here are a few things you should have handy now:

“Tis the season to be jolly” is the tune playing in my head as i am typing this.

Happy Holidays

This is my third post in the blogmas series. I have been writing all about christmas since december started. You can read the last two posts here and here.

For some people, the holiday is for a few weeks while for others like me *sad face* it is only for a few days but that doesn’t mean one shouldn’t make it worthwhile.

I thought to come up with a list of fun activities to do this holiday:

  1. Plan Game Night- This is a fun way to have family and friends together. Play games, gist, eat and be merry. Due to the second wave of covid-19 hitting, having an online event is the best way to go and if it has to be physical, ensure to follow the covid-19 precautionary guidelines.
  2. Visit a Restaurant- You don’t have to be a foodie to try out a new restaurant in town. Visit one, try a new menu maybe.
  3. Go to the Movies- There are a lot of chritsmas movies airing right now, go to the movies and watch a few of them but if you will rather stay home, gather the chritsmas movies, grab your popcorn and enjoy.
  4. Binge-Watch a New TV Series- You probably did not have the time all year to watch new tv series, now you can so why not binge-watch a few of them. A few suggestions are the queens gambit and girlfriends both on Netflix. I wrote something about movies i was watching at a time here so you can chck them out.
  5. Cook a Feast- If you are up to it, you can make different kinds of meals and share with family, friends, and neighbours.

What are your plans for the holiday? have other ideas of fun activities? please share in the comments section.

Merry Christmas and please stay safe.

Christmas Season: Gift ideas for Her

Christmas is just around the corner, Who else is excited? and how’s the christmas spirit going too? Caught it yet or you’re still looking for it?

Just a week ago, i posted gift ideas for him and i hope it was helpful.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into gift suggestions for her:

  1. Weave- We ladies love to look good so a nice weave is a great idea. A recommendation if i may? Bone straight lol.
  2. A gift card from her favorite fashion brand- If she is the fashionable type, you should get her a gift card to shop those designs she has kept in her shopping cart for a while now.
  3. Paid Subscription- DSTV, Electricity, or even a class subscription.
  4. Gadgets- Just like the men, some of us love our gadgets.
  5. Stocks- I got into stocks recently and boy, getting them as gifts will be really sweet so if she is into investments, you can buy her stocks.
  6. Books- A book from her favorite author or one she has been wanting to read but haven’t been able to get her hands on is really thoughtful.
  7. Jewelry- Diamonds are a girl’s best friend but when you can’t afford that, you can get her other types of jewelry.
  8. A vacation- It has been a long year, a week or weekend off to a nice place will be really thoughful.
  9. Money- When you don’t know what to get, drop some bars in her account.

Now don’t say i haven’t done anything for you. I hope you are inspired by this list and gift your mum, sister, partner or friend something from this list.

Christmas Season: Gift ideas for him

it’s the most wonderful time of the year

It is my favourite time of the year again and i have just started decorating my place in time for christmas.

One of the favorite things about christmas asides the festive mood and great food is gifting and this can be a great task deciding what to get for who.

Knowing the best gift to give to your father, husband, boyfriend, brother or a friend can be difficult atimes so here a few gift ideas for him:

  1. A PS5 – Every man that loves his games wants to get this so if you can afford it, then you should get him that PS5.
  2. Skin care products – I know a few men that love to take care of their skin so, if the guy you want to gift falls into this category then skin care products are the best to get. Do ensure however to get the best products that suits his skin and not ones that will irritate it.
  3. Books – If he loves books, then you could try gifting him one or a few books he has been wanting to get.
  4. Gadgets – Air pods, Smart watches, Amazon alexa, an ipad etc. the list is endless for the tech-savvy guy.
  5. Food – There is this quote that says “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”, well, if the man you want to gift is a food lover then a gift card from his favorite restaurant or taking him to a new one that just opened aren’t such bad ideas. You can also order him food baskets or food trays.
  6. A subscription plan – Paying for his cable TV, electricity, class or even music subscriptions is a thougthful gift.
  7. A gift card – Giving him a gift card from his favorite store allows him to decide and pick somthing he really wants so there is no doubt on getting him something he doesn’t even need.
  8. Grant him a wish- This is another sleek move when you are not sure what he will like. Ask him to a make a wish you can grant.
  9. Money – Still not sure what to get? send him money to spoil himself.

In all of this, it is the sweet gesture that counts and not the money spent so, if you can afford to go all out or not, remember this.

This guide serves personalities of different kind so i hope you are inspired.

A lot of stores are having end of year discounts at the moment so now is the best time to cop these gifts.

Have other gift ideas? Please do share in the comments section.

I also have a similar post on gifting. You can read it here

I will be dropping the “gift ideas for her” post sometime soon so be on the look-out and join the mailing list below so you don’t miss out.

Please share this post with family and friends.

Compliments of the Season 🙂

Crazy work schedules, school or life in general can get in the way of relationships and that’s why going on dates are pretty important.

Going on dates is an amazing way to keep the fire burning in any relationship.

You necessarily don’t have to go over-budget to plan a date. Sometimes, simple does it.

Here are a few cost-effective ideas for when next you plan your date night:

  • Picnics- Great idea. Now all you have to do is decide if to go for the outdoor-type or lay a blanket inside and also what the food will be. Fruits, pastries, sweets, wine etc are great ideas to start things going.
  • The beach- The serenity and calmness makes the beach a great idea on this list. You could actually have your picnic at the beach if going for an outdoor one. Find a quiet place, keep your phones away and enjoy your date.
  • Long Walks- On the beach, on your street etc, long walks are amazing. It is a great idea to have long conversations. Walking is also great exercise so you’re killing two birds with one stone lol.
  • Ice-Cream/Pizza dates- If you are in the mood for sweets, ice-cream shops and pizza places are perfect stops to have a fun date night.
  • Stay home and organize game night- Game night can be date night. Get the games rolling with some nice drinks and food, have other couples over if you don’t mind company (the more the merrier).
  • Visit a bar- In the mood for drinks? visit a bar and take the night away with beautiful conversations and great music. Just ensure you aren’t driving back home for safety reasons.

I feel like this list covers different personalities so even if you are the indoor or outdoor-type of person, team sweets/healthy, there is a cost-effective date idea for everyone.

I Have Been Gone Too Long: Here’s Why

Hello *saying this while grinning widely*

It has been a while since I last wrote here. Truth be told, I have missed this so much and it feels good to back.

The break i took was unplanned. My 9-5 got really tedious and the #endsars movement also happened of which the event of things just killed my spirits. You can read up all about #Endsars here and here

Can 2020 end already

Anyway, i am back and hope to be more consistent here. Hope you are well and safe?

Noticed anything? Well, I changed the blog name 🙂

I have always been fond of writing and that is why I started this blog. The name used to be “bricksandlaces.wordpress.com” but i figured it is time to make the blog have a more personal feel thus, the name change.

The content of the blog remains the same; lifestyle of course and I hope to be more consistent here.

My favorite time of the year is here and I have plans of dropping different types of Christmas content here so please be on the look-out.

Till next time, stay safe and be happy 🙂

Success! You're on the list.

You must gain control over your money or the lack of it will forever control you. –Dave Ramsey

We all need to learn, understand and practice financial planning

You know how you receive an amount of money and before you know it, it is all gone yet you cannot account for it? i used to be this person until i decided to change this.

Financial planning helps to understand what is “eating” your money literally.

With a plan on ground, you know where, when and how your money is being spent.

I am not a financial advisor/expert but i will be sharing few tricks that have helped me to be more financially wise:

  1. Have a budget- This is the ultimate guide to financially planning your funds. A budget helps you to calculate your money as you want it to be spent, A budget also helps to prioritize your most important financial needs and etc.
  2. Stick to the budget- It isn’t just having a budget but also about sticking to it, it takes discipline to actually stick to a budget. After you have drawn up a budget that works for you, please stick to it.
  3. Have a savings plan- When drawing your budget, create a space in it for a savings plan. “tiny droplets make a mighty ocean” is equally applicable in savings. What I mean is, even if you are saving NGN1,000 a day or a week or even a month, yes it might take a while but eventually it becomes a large sum. Start saving up money, no matter how small.

Here are a few apps that are really helpful with financial planning:

a. Bank App- I use this to track my spendings.

b. Piggyvest- I use this for my savings and investments

c. Spending tracker- It is an app you can use to keep track of your spendings and also draw your budget.

Netflix Lately

It’s been forever since I wrote here. Hi 👋

Trust you are still staying safe, practicing social distancing, using face mask and washing your hands as we are aware that corona is still outside.

I have been watching a lot of Netflix movies lately. The reasons I am sharing with you movies I’ve been seeing on Netflix are because:

1. You don’t have to waste your data on movies that aren’t worth it, I love you that much

2. Recommendation when you don’t know what to watch

I for one only watch movies that come highly recommended.

Without further ado, I will be highlighting some movies I’ve seen on Netflix and what I think of them:

A. The old guard- I will rate this movie a 8/10. I love fiction and this is a good watch. Love the storyline and it features one of my fave actresses (Charlize Theron).

B. Your Excellency- This movie is funny so if you are in for a little comedy, I will recommend this. I’m rating this a 7/10.

C. The kissing booth 2- I never watched part 1 until now. Everyone was talking about the sequel (part 2) on twitter so I thought to give it a try. If you enjoyed “to all the boys I’ve loved before” then this is for you. My rating- 10/10 because it is my kinda movie lol.

D. Atypical- This is the only series I’ve been watching and it’s so interesting. It has three seasons and I’m about to start season 2. Looking for a series to binge on? This one is for you. I won’t be rating this because I only just finished season 1.

It’s a long weekend so download some of the movies or series recommended above and enjoy with a bowl of popcorn 😌

Seen any of the movies/series mentioned above? Please share with me other movies or series you’re watching on Netflix so I can check them out.

Stay Safe

If there is anything i picked from the lockdown period, one of them is the fact that i don’t own that much casual clothes.

We pay so much attention to the outfits for work, parties etc and just neglect the need for casual ones.

I have a new post on Schick Magazine Website highlighting some staples you actually need in your closet. You can read it here .

Enjoy and stay safe.

As a content creator/blogger, knowing what to post on your Instagram or Blog can be really difficult sometimes.

There are times the inspiration comes to me and other times, I have to go look for it.

I will be sharing with you my top 4 apps where to look for inspiration for your content creation or next blog post:

1) Pinterest- I feel people are still sleeping on this great app. I get a lot of inspiration from here. My flat lays, poses for my pictures are most of the time Pinterest-inspired.

2) Instagram- My second place to go look for inspiration. I follow fellow content creators and bloggers, what they post tend to inspire me one way or the other.

3) Twitter- You might be wondering what twitter is doing here. Well, it’s an interactive app, people are always talking lol, so you could pick inspiration from what people are talking about.

4) Bloglovin- Since I stumbled on this app, I’ve never looked back. When I have no idea what to write about, I go there and just reading other blog posts inspire me.

Are there other apps you use for inspiration and they didn’t make this list? Please share and i will check them out.

I know the covid-19 pandemic has stalled a lot of owambes scheduled for 2020. While we are hoping and praying this is all over soon, let us talk about this issue that has been on my mind for a really long time.

When a family member, friend, colleague from work or acquaintance wants to get married, there is the obligation that comes with buying the famous “aso-ebi”. Not like they make it compulsory but yet it is essential, if you know what I mean.

Is it the price that all of a sudden gets hyped, the amount we have to pay our tailor to sew the “one in town” design or the fact that after the owambe we don’t get to wear the outfit again?

What exactly is the hype behind wearing aso-ebi to events sef?

Aso-ebi is the famous name of fabric/clothing which family and friends of the celebrant(s) wear on birthdays, weddings etc. to make them stand out from other guests at the event.

I love owambes and cannot wait to resume them, however, I am not a big fan of the aso-ebi. Maybe I am just being careful or just plain broke, spending a lot of money for a fabric I will wear out once to an event just isn’t for me.

Aso-ebis are spectacular and they add color to the events too. I love to see the different styles people make with them. If you can afford to splurge on them, then go ahead, if you cannot, here are a few tips to note when purchasing your next one:

1- Have an aso-ebi budget for the year and don’t go beyond it
2- Make styles that will fit other occasions’ need e.g. you could make two-pieces and wear them as separates after.
3- If you really don’t have to buy it, then don’t.

So ladies, back to my question, do you really need to buy that aso-ebi?

Found this post helpful? spread the love by sharing this with your friends.

I wrote a similar post on asoebi on Schick Magazine Website and you can read it here

2020 has been one hell of a year. From the covid-19 pandemic to racism and rape raising their ugly heads, it has been a lot to deal with.

While we are trying to flatten the covid-19 curve, supporting the #blacklivesmatters movement and seeking justice for rape victims as well as ensuring the rape culture dies, it is important that we take care of our mental health as all these can be a lot to handle. The stories and news we hear every day can be overwhelming and cause mental strain.

Picture gotten from Pinterest

Here are a few ways to de-stress:

  1. Have a warm bath- Nothing beats having a warm bath to cool your nerves and ease all tension within you.
  2. Play your favorite music- This is a form of distracting yourself. Whatever it is your favorite music is at the moment, plug your ears and let the music take you away.
  3. Have your favorite movie/show on- If you need another form of distraction, watching your favorite movie or show.
  4. Stay off social media- We read a lot of information on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Reading all that can be really draining and exhausting, if what you’ve been reading on social media is taking a mental toll on you, it is best you stay off it for a while and that’s totally okay.
  5. Sleep- Sleeping is therapeutic. The tension in your body relaxes, your mind is shut to anything that could cause stress at that time.
  6. Meditation – Meditating has proven to ease tension, and mental stress over time. Take a comfortable position, set your mind to positive thoughts, and let that clear every strain or stress you feel.

What a year 2020 has been, we need to take care of our physical and mental health so let’s make conscious efforts to do so.

In the midst of battling the current covid-19 pandemic, home schooling kids as the case may be and even adapting to the new normal of working from home, having a healthy lifestyle cannot be overemphasized.

If i’ve done anything during the quarantine period, it’s cooking. I’ve tried on new recipes, enjoyed making old ones. I absolutely enjoy cooking but never really had the time to do so except on weekends when i wasn’t so tired till covid-19 happened.

I am not going to bore you with how i rediscovered my love for cooking because this is a recipe post.

I am not big on explanations so please just take this as i give it. I will be giving details on two recipes i tried for the first time during the quarantine period using chicken.

Recipe 1: Oven grilled barbecue/suya chicken

You will need:

  • Chicken (wings, drumsticks, whole) whichever you have
  • Barbecue sauce/suya spice(this is two recipes in one)
  • A glazing/pastry brush

Step 1- Boil your chicken using your go-to recipe and leave to cool for a few minutes after.

Step 2- Pre-heat your oven so it’s warm enough by the time the chicken goes in. I don’t have the degrees your oven should be pre-heated to because i use a small oven and it doesn’t have the degree count. Just put the oven on few minutes before the chicken goes in basically.

Step 3- Use the glazing brush to apply the barbebcue sauce on all parts of the chicken. If you are using the suya spice, dip the chicken into the suya spice till it is evenly coated on the chicken. If you don’t have a glazing brush, you can use a spoon, just that the glaze won’t be evenly coated on the chicken.

Step 4- Place your glazed chicken into the oven for 15 minutes on medium heat.

Step 5- Take out the chicken, turn it over, glaze again and put back into the oven for another 10 minutes.

Your chicken is ready to be eaten. Really easy right?

Barbecue Chicken
Suya Chicken

Recipe 2- Chicken Sandwich

I love this recipe a lot because you are going to make use of the remaining chicken from recipe 1.

You will need:

  • Chicken done using recipe 1
  • Slices of bread
  • Mayonnaise
  • Vegetables as preferred (tomatoes, onions, cucumber, lettuce etc)

Step 1- Cut your chicken into small chunks

Step 2- Mix chicken with mayonnaise

Step 3- Toast your bread slices and get your vegetables ready by cutting them into desired slices

Step 4- Place your vegetables on a slice of bread toast and put the chicken-mayonnaise mix on top of it.

Step 5- Place another slice of bread toast on the bread toast that has the chicken and vegetables and cut the bread into two triangles.

Your chicken sandwich is ready. I must confess though, i didn’t add vegetables when i made mine but adding them would make the chicken sandwich really nutritious and filling.

These recipes are pretty easy, ingredients are equally easy to get too.

Would you be trying these recipes out? Do tag me in your pictures/videos when you try them.

Success! You're on the list.

Cooking Again

It’s day … of quarantine, who’s keeping count?

What have you been up to since the lockdown started? I’ve seen people cleaned their fridges/freezers to their closet and other people finding their calling in cooking again.

I belong to the latter that has found again their love for cooking. For me, it hasn’t just been about just cooking but also about trying to create, learn new meals.

Here’s a few of the meals I’ve tried so far:

Pancakes and scrambled eggs
Fried yam and grilled fish
French Toast
Oven-fried sweet potato chips and beans
Cucumber Salad

I’m thinking of trying out potato salad next.

I would have loved to try baking but I didn’t get baking ingredients before the lockdown started so till next time lol.

What have you been up to since the lockdown started? Please share I’d love to read them in the comments section.

Things I’m Currently…

It’s March Yaaay!!!

Seems like the year is going by really fast and I’m loving it.

Without further ado, here’s a list of things I’m currently:

Loving- The new Chike album. If you haven’t heard about it or even listened to it, I want to believe you are living under a rock lol. Every song on the album is a hit, you should totally listen to it. It’s titled “Boo of the Booless”.

Watching- A lot of movies and series, the ones I’ve seen so far are “knives out” omg that movie was crazy, I’d call it a dark comedy movie, so interesting. Also, “bombshell”, “ a marriage story”, basically 2019 movies I haven’t been able to watch. I’m starting season 2 of “a million little things” today, I enjoyed season 1 and can’t wait to see how season 2 goes.

Reading- “insurance law” because I have an exam soon, wish me the best.

Eating- a lot of chocolates, it’s crazy how i’m such a sweet tooth. I tell people I drink green tea to cancel the chocolate lmao.

Saying- Prayer goes a long way. No matter how little or big that situation is, pray about it. God loves you too much so talk to him about anything and everything, he’s got you covered.

I hope you enjoyed my “things I’m currently” list.

What are the things you’re currently into? Please do share in the comments, I could pick a thing or two.

Skin Care Update

Happy New Year Again Guys!

Okay so I have been getting a lot of “your skin is really glowing” comments for a while now so I thought you guys deserve an update on my skin care routine since my last post Here .

I started using this new product recently and in a short while I’ve seen a big positive change on my skin.

Have you heard of Arami essentials? Well, one of their products has been performing magic on my skin. Actually though, my face.

I still use the regular Shea butter mix with coconut oil on my body and use the arami glow oil just on my face and it has been magic.

I noticed my skin really became beautiful, you know the dark and shine type lol.

This isn’t some kind of sponsored post, I just thought to sing the praises of the arami glow oil since it has been performing wonders to my face.

My sister who blogs here bought the product for herself and I stole a few drops once in a while and then I started receiving the positive feedbacks about my face from people and then I decided to just stick to the product.

I hope to try a few more of their products in the near future.

The glow oil currently sells for N2,500 and you can check them out on Instagram. They also sell other skin care products like their onyx polish and purity mask.

Have you tried any Arami Essentials product before? Will you be trying them out soon? Please do share in the comments section.

Till next time,

Life Update: 2020

Hey loves,

It’s been forever since I last wrote a post here. I’m so sorry, it has just been discouraging you know, I haven’t been getting the amount of reach and audience I thought I would get but well, we move.

Happy New Year and how has 2020 been so far? I feel like this January has been speeding or is it just me?

2020 is off to a great start for me and I’m so excited about it.

I won an award at my workplace and it gave me this sense of fulfillment kinda. I’m not a workaholic but I just try to put my best in what I do and I’m grateful I was recognized for it.

I was a bit under the weather too but I’m recovering now.

This 2020, I hope to go out more, buy that car and just live life to the fullest. This year is also the year I turn 26, I feel like a real adult now lol.

For the blog, I hope to post lots of lifestyle content for you, so help me God.

I wish you the very best this 2020.

You’re probably wondering why I have this Hajia look on? It’s for a theme party: Arabian. Did I nail it?

Boxing Day Shenanigans

It’s 06:40pm on the 26th of December 2019 and I’m thinking of how boring my Christmas break was. I don’t know if it’s pms or me just being silly but I’m crying I had a boring Christmas. It’s my first time spending Christmas without my family and I just assumed I would have fun but I didn’t.

Is it too late to wish you compliments of the season? I hope you had a fun Christmas unlike me though.

Merry Christmas! Wishing you a beautiful and fun-filled holiday.

What’s the plan for new year? Who has a house party I can join in? I need to make the new year celebration fun.

What did you do for Christmas? Please share in the comments section.

Till next time, ciao 😘

Gifts Ideas

Christmas season is upon us and one of the beautiful gestures done at this period is gifting.

From your lover to family and friends, we love to give and receive gifts.

Knowing what to get can be hard sometimes and I’m here to help you out this year, who’s excited?

Before I begin with the list, most times, the people we want to gift give you ideas of what they want so try and be attentive or better still, you can just ask what they want for Christmas. It just makes it easier.

Gift ideas for Her:

1) Tech Gadgets

2) Skin products

3) An outfit/shoes/bag

4) Jewelry

5) Hair weaves

Gift ideas for Him:

1) Tech Gadgets

2) Skin products

3) Toiletries

4) Footwear

5) Concert ticket

Other gift ideas include:

1) Hampers

2) Fruits basket

3) Dinner

4) Money

5) Gift card

With these few ideas of mine, I hope you know what gifts you are getting now. At the end of it all, it is the gesture that counts and not the amount spent so if you can’t afford to go overboard please don’t.

Compliments of the season people.

Till next time.

Ways to spice your interiors

Hey People,

It’s been a minute since my last blog post. I apologize, finding the perfect post to put up can be hard sometimes.

How are y’all doing? It’s almost Christmas, who else is excited? I can’t wait to decorate my apartment in time for Christmas.

Talking about apartments, your home interior doesn’t have to be boring you know. I would be giving tips on how to give it a little lift that you will be proud of:

1) Furniture- I currently own a purple sofa in my living room and it is one of the best decisions ever. Spice your living room by adding colour with your furniture. If you aren’t so sure of making your sofa a bright colour, you can just go for the nude colours and make your accent/single chair a bright one instead.

2) Wall Art- This is one thing I can’t wait to lay my hands on. Wall art gives your home this feel I can’t seem to find a word for. Is the word artsy? I’m not sure lol.

3) Indoor plant (could be natural or artificial)- I love the natural ones most especially, they help with ventilation. If you’re like me that feels you might not be able to take care of the natural ones , please opt for the artificial plants, they’re as pretty too. They give your home this relax vibe.

4) Scented Candle- I love scented candles, in fact, I think I’m obsessed. They make your home smell really nice and homely. If you’re thinking of what to get me for Christmas, this is an idea lol.

You won’t want to leave your home again once these few tips have been incorporated.

Let’s talk about Christmas briefly, what are your plans? What gifts are you giving or expecting? How about a post on gift ideas for my next post? Please do share in the comments section.

Till next time, ciao.

Is Anything Wrong With Being Introverted?

Hey guys,

Today’s post is a question. So is anything wrong with being introverted?

I’ve struggled with accepting the fact that I am an introvert and I don’t understand why. Maybe I do, I mean, I know I want to be seen as a person that is outspoken, not shy, has a lot of friends etc but the truth is I’m not any of these things.

My life on the internet is different from my life offline. Okay pause, I don’t mean it that way.

When you see my tweets on twitter or my posts on IG you’d think I’m an extrovert but the thing is I’m just able to express myself better online than offline.

I used to have a problem accepting my introverted self but now, I’m embracing it because at the end of the day it is who I am. I have tried to be an extrovert but I don’t flow with it.

So back to my question, is anything wrong with being introverted? I think not,

Please do share your responses in the comments section I’d love to hear from you l.

With love,

Skin Care: what I do/use

Hello Hunnays,

Been a minute since my last post. I have been really lazy putting up a post and I apologize.

Let’s just get right into today’s post: my skin care products

Some days ago I was looking at pictures I took of myself and couldn’t help but appreciate my beautiful dark, melanin skin and in the era where people bleach their skins, I am really grateful for my dark one and I think you should too. Black is beautiful.

I’d be sharing with you what I do to take care of my skin and I hope it helps you one way or the other.

Before I go on, you need to understand what your skin wants- this is the most important tip ever. Know what works for your skin. The skin is a very delicate part of your body and knowing what goes and what doesn’t helps a lot. Overtime, I realized what works for my skin and it’s been a great journey since I started using only what works.

So, let’s get into my skin care products:

A) Face soap: like I said earlier, knowing what works for you is really important. I discovered that when I use certain medicated soaps on my face, I tend to have pimples all over so I stopped using them and just use any soap that doesn’t have medicated or antiseptic in its name. However, I started using Safeguard recently and my face has been almost smooth. I also do not use black soap for my face because I also tend to break out when I do.

B) Black Soap: I don’t use it for my face but I use it for other parts of my body. It’s organic, natural and really healthy for the skin.

C) Shea butter and coconut oil: I use the mix of both as body lotion and it gives me that natural body glow.

D) Face cream: I don’t use my Shea butter and coconut oil mix for my face because I have also discovered that any form of oil on my face causes breakouts for me so anything that doesn’t involve oil is perfect for my face. I also don’t use anything with chemicals. Any facial cream with just natural products is fine.

E) No makeup: I literally use nothing, not even powder on my face asides my lip gloss everyday except I have a wedding to attend or any special event and it’s been really helpful. It gives my face that fresh, youthful look. The makeup-free face also gives room for your face to breathe.

I hope these tips are helpful. Please do let me know in the comments section and also what skin care products you use.

N.B: Nobody’s skin is perfect so don’t be too hard on yourself, find out what works for you and be consistent.

Lastly, drink water and mind your business lol. Seriously though, does that work?

Till next time, ciao.

For The Love of…

I have a blog post. I’m not sure you understand how hard i’ve been trying to come up with a blog post but it finally came to me lol.

How are you doing? Miss me? I hope you did.

What am I writing about today, hmmm, Music. I didn’t want to give it away in the topic lol.

Music is power, it is beauty that keeps redefining itself, it is one blessing I’m super grateful for or am i the only one on this train?

I love music a lot but tend to forget it exists sometimes especially when I’m so caught up with stuff and as soon as I remember, the music girl in me jacks up and then we go through the cycle again.

Anyway, today is one of the days I appreciate music and I thought to share with you my current fave songs.

In no particular order, here goes the list:

I hope you enjoyed the list.

What are your current fave songs? Please do share in the comments section.

Till next time, ciao

About Franz…

This is a really good story and I want you all to enjoy

The Lola Oyetunji

Ow, yuh duh? Mi hope yuh alright. Can you tell I’m trying to learn how to converse in Patois? There’s this book I’m currently reading that has its story set in Jamaica and i am loving the dialogues the characters are having in Patois.

Frankly speaking, I’m not trying to learn anything or do anything asides sleep, read stuff online tbh. Talking about reading stuff online, some days ago, while reading up things about The Eiffel Tower i came across the story of Franz Reichelt, an Austrian born tailor who plummeted from the Eiffel tower straight to his death in 1912.

See Gif below to get a clearer picture of my expression after reading a few lines of his story.

I read up more about him, and the inner Yoruba mother in me was all shades of “Ikunle Abiamo o” Translated as The kneeling down…
